Learning about food flavours, food categories, meals, menus and recipes! 🍚πŸ₯  πŸͺ

The year 3 students have kept themselves busy over the last couple of weeks while learning about the food we eat, well known recipes and their ingredients, as well as menus and flavours. Vocabulary games such as 'dobble' or memory games have helped them gradually broaden their use of words to talk about the meals they have throughout the day, when and describe them based on their flavours.

We have also focused on developing our reading skills through the use of reading strategies that allow us to become more independent when reading phrases, sentences, paragraphs and even long texts, as the one shown in some of the pictures below. With reading, learners are now used to carry out 'active reading tasks' in which they look for evidence (clues) and identify possible tricky words as well as alphablocks to assist them decoding the words and reach meaning.
